The seed for Career Start was planted in January of 2007 when Yolanda Brown and Lindsay Taliento teamed-up to pilot a Job Development program for Monroe County (Rochester, New York) Department of Social Services. As a publicly funded program, their aim was to raise the number of people moving from public assistance to the workforce by providing job readiness training and opportunities to interview with qualified employers in the greater Rochester area. A short six months later, Yolanda and Lindsay proved an enormous success: their unique, service-oriented approach to placement and training was helping dozens of individuals transition into stable, fulfilling jobs each month.

In August of 2007, Yolanda and Lindsay founded Career Start as a private employment firm to continue serving those people in Monroe County seeking to move from public assistance to the workforce.  In the near future, they fully intend to expand the scope of their services to individuals and organizations throughout the whole of Upstate New York.
